Dangers Abound in Somali and the Forest Spirit TV Spot edited by Ferratum

Golem, Somali, and company travel in a covered wagon in a scene from the upcoming Somali and the Forest Spirit TV anime.

A 30 second TV spot and the Japanese broadcast schedule have been published for Somali and the Forest Spirit, an upcoming Crunchyroll Co-production based on the fantasy manga by Yako Gureishi about a young human girl who is adopted by an automaton in a world where humanity is on the verge of extinction.

In Somali and the Forest Spirit, the human species has been persecuted and driven to the point of extinction, and the surface world is ruled by a host of unusual-looking humanoids. One day in this strange world, Golem, the guardian of the forest, encounters a young human girl who addresses Golem as “Dad”. This is the story of that fateful meeting, the father-daughter bond that grows between human being and forest guardian, and their journey together.

A new key visual for the upcoming Somali and the Forest Spirit TV anime, featuring the human girl Somali and her guardian, Golem.

The original Somali and the Forest Spirit manga is serialized in North Star Pictures’ Web Comic Zenyon digital manga magazine. The Somali and the Forest Spirit TV anime is directed by Kenji Yasuda and features animation production by Satelight. The series will broadcast in Japan according to the following TV schedule:

  • AbemaTV: every Thursday during the 24:00 time slot beginning on January 09, 2020.
  • Tokyo MX: every Thursday during the 24:30 time slot beginning on January 09, 2020.
  • BS NTV: every Thursday during the 24:00 time slot beginning on January 09, 2020.

Please note that some Japanese TV schedules count early-morning programming as late-night programming of the previous day, so for example the 24:30 time slot on Thursday evening is actually on Friday morning at 12:30am JST.

Somali and the Forest Spirit will also stream on Crunchyroll as part of the Winter 2020 simulcast lineup.
